Pre Press
G5 Macintosh computers platform
Norcross have one of the most advanced and technically proficient art
and design studios in New Zealand. Our specialist graphic designers and
CTP operators work in a Macintosh G5 environment.

This highly skilled team ensures that your brand maintains consistent
corporate identity standards.
The Norcross Printing Group have years of experience in designing for
function and designing for economy. We have successfully assisted clients’ over
the years to rationalise their printed forms, through consolidation i.e.
amalgamating alike items into one, smarter design, converted printed forms
into electronic versions for in-house production, and carried out numerous
re-design projects like re-branding and re-designing to reduce in-efficiencies
out of the printing process. Additionally, we are experienced at recommending
stock substitution and packaging options, unit of measure reforms and
other general consultative services that make us one of New Zealand’s
most pro-active print management companies.

CTP (computer to plate)
Our advanced Signa workstations ensure high quality, first generation
imaging of plate for printing. This system includes a 3 unit automatic
plate loading facility to guarantee seamless transitioning from business
forms to sheet fed requirements. Huge reductions in lead times have been
achieved with this technology, resulting in the meeting of deadlines
that were previously impossible.

CD74LX – F & C format presses
Like everyone, sometimes you need jobs done yesterday. Now, while we can’t
quite make the clock go backwards, we have managed to extend time in your
favour by shrinking the hours we need to print. Here’s a couple
of ways we’ve managed to cut our printing lead times to give you
more time on project development.
We have recently added a new CD74 P with perfecting unit to compliment
our CD74 XF.
The perfecting unit enables us to print both sides of the sheet in one
pass of the machine, slashing print times in half.
The CD74 P variant is extremely fast delivering high quality print at
15,000 sheets per hour.
This machine has all of the capabilities of its sister press the CD74
XF printing 4 and five colour with aqueous coating on a variety of substrates.
Heidelberg SM52 Range of Presses
Norcross also operate smaller 5 colour, 2 colour and 1 colour SM52 presses.
Our A3 5 colour press with coater to fulfill short run 4 colour work
from letterheads, business cards and envelopes to small brochure work
and posters. This gives Norcross flexability and greater printing capacity
in a very competitive manufacturing market.
Press Automation
Heidelberg’s new level of process automation, coupled with 4th
generation Computer to Plate Technology (CTP), has allowed us to put our
thinking caps on and really look for quicker ways to get to press.
Our print make ready times have been slashed with the new high level
of automation in our Speedmaster CD74 LX-F and Speedmaster
CD74 P with perfecting unit.
Sheet sizes now only need to be keyed in once into the system computer
and all machine backstops, sheet joggers and sheet brakes are automatically
adjusted to suit.
In addition, an impressive array of timesaving functions including ‘Preset
ink’, lets us upload colour pre-settings from the Plate Image Reader
in PDF format. This cuts down further on make ready times and start-up
waste.

Wider range of substrates and press capabilities
The Speedmaster CD 74 LX-F and the Speedmaster CD 74 P has dramatically
widened the range of media we can print on by taking advantage of new
air-based transfer technology.
From flimsy paper to stiff board. From plastic sheet to embossed materials.
What used to be the most difficult substrates and media are now made easier
for us to print with the CD 74 presses.
An envelope of air
The Speedmaster’s new innovative Air Transfer technology has made
it a lot easier for us to expand our range of printable media. Patented
Venturi technology guides the sheets through the press in an envelope
of air, eliminating traditional problems with extremely thick or thin
material.
Our new Printable Media Checklist: •
Most corrugated cards • Annual Reports
•
3D items including Lenticular • Packaging
•
Embossed materials • Flyers and brochures
Superior inking flexibility leads to:
• Quicker turnarounds on print jobs
• Even greater print consistency
• A massive reduction in sheet wastage
